Learning Support and Enrichment

Learning Support and Enrichment
The educators at Maarakool Primary School are committed to identifying, responding to and supporting the diverse needs of all students so that they are able to engage with the content and standards defined in the Western Australian Curriculum.

MPS uses the Multi-tiered Systems of Support model to respond to student needs. This model informs our evidence-based approaches to promoting positive wellbeing, behaviour and learning and ensures that students receive targeted and/ or intensive support in the areas of curriculum, attendance, wellbeing, behaviour and engagement when required.

Parents/ caregivers and external agencies are encouraged to be actively involved and work in partnership with school staff, ensuring a team approach when supporting students to meet their full potential.

Gifted and talented students are represented in all socio-economic and cultural groups. For varied reasons many of these students are at risk of not achieving to their full potential. It is also important that the abilities of gifted and talented students be accepted, valued and fostered by teachers, parents, peers and the community.

At Maarakool PS we ensure that:

  • Students are identified and catered for across different learning areas;
  • Student abilities are fostered through appropriate educational provision;
  • Students are provided with a range of extension and enrichment opportunities both within the classroom and through small group targeted programs (including before and after school and lunch time programs).
